Pet No More

Used to be called the teacher’s pet.

I’d love how these idiom made me feel a long time ago.

But that’s just it. It’s a thing in the past.

Just recently, I realized I am nobody’s pet anymore.

Nobody cares for my opinions at work. Not that it’s a big deal.

I didn’t mind much because I don’t want my opinions to be acknowledged either.

However, I realized it is important to be acknowledged at work even if you don’t want it.

It’s not about what you want after all.

It is about survival.

Survival in the world of two-faced “friends”.

I hate it but I belong to a world of hypocrisy and lies, to fake laughters and smiles.

I belong to the class who hungers for acknowledgement but can’t do something worth acknowledging.

I belong.

I am not anybody else’s pet anymore.

I am GOD’S.
